After a break in December from our extended classes, we returned in January with the Manipura Chakra class, and it went really well, with a mix of faces across all our classes, and the odd new face too.

These classes all have a theme related to each of the seven main Chakras, and so far we’ve looked at the Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus Chakras.

Our next extended class will be focusing on the Anahata Chakra on 24th February 2019 from 2pm - 4pm at The Nigel Copping Community Building in Stanstead Abbotts.

Class Four - The Anahata Chakra

The Anahata or Heart Chakra means “unstruck sound” and its earth element is air. It directly affects the heart, lungs, chest, arms and hands, so during the class we will be focusing on chest/shoulder openers, and we’ll also be looking at backbends.

The Heart Chakra colour is green and is associated with love, compassion and joy.

As with all of our extended classes, the final part of the class will focus on Yin/Restorative yoga, so we’ll be using bolsters to aid and support the body as we head into Savasana and relaxation.

Here are some pictures taken just before January’s class.

The Seven Chakras

Anahata Chakra

There are seven main chakras in the body which run from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Chakras are subtle energy centres in the body where energy flows through. Each Chakra is connected to our emotional, physical, mental and spiritual spaces and through our yoga practice we can bring these energy systems back into balance.

The Venue

The Nigel Copping Building, Stanstead Abbotts is a great place for an extended class like this. The hall is large, clean and bright, and is only a short walk from the small town which has a pub at either end. It’s set in a lovely spot next to the river Lee if you fancy a walk before or after the class. Hoddesdon, Hertford and Ware are all just a five, ten and fifteen minute drive away repectively.
